Huapil

A huipil is basically a long tunic, sleeveless, square, usually made of cotton. It is common among indigenous cultures, especially among the Maya and Zapotec, but older women tend to use it in all the small towns of Mexico. A huipil may be a simple white shirt, or may be completely covered with elaborate embroidery and are generally bright patterns. Typically, they have a few lines of embroidery along the neck and sleeves. Today, the huipil is a garment used to every day, very similar to the Mexican blouse. Even it used in metropolitan areas, but is likely to suit the current fashion.
